Day 134: So Cold!
The Siberian cold wave that, just a few days ago, was keeping Moscow at –40°C has now reached Dresden. Today’s forecast calls for lows of –16°C. This easily beats (much to my regret—since people from Ávila love to brag about how cold it gets there) the coldest temperature I’ve ever experienced in Ávila. This cold is brutal! In the middle of the cold snap we’ve hit –23°C. It’s unthinkable to go without gloves; spend a single minute outdoors with bare hands and you can’t feel them anymore.
There have even been surreal situations—like when I left my room window open for half an hour and all the water inside froze: the condensation on the window panes, a bottle of water I keep by the window for watering the plants… I’m attaching photos from the Dresden newspaper covering the story and yesterday’s weather forecast.
