Day 186: Oh! Scheiße!
Since these days I can’t really write anything (on Tuesday I’ve got two exams and I spend the whole day studying at home, so there’s nothing to tell), I thought I’d start another discussion in the style of Things Germans do in class (which I think was a great success).
This time, though, I’d like you to share mix-ups and mistakes that have come about because of language problems. For example, the other day I was going to make Cuban-style rice at home, and it turned out I’d bought rice pudding. Or another case that happened to someone who prefers to remain anonymous (for good reason), who spent a whole week using insect spray instead of deodorant.
Stories like “I misunderstood a sign and, instead of going to a ska concert, I ended up at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting” also count… At the moment I can’t think of any more slip-ups, but I’m sure I’ve got loads. When I’ve got more time and as they come back to me, I’ll share them here on the blog.
