Day 256: Goodbye friends
Yesterday, Javi and Ángel, Erasmus classmates from Soria, returned to Spain. Their scholarship has ended. They’re not the first — before them, Diana, Alberto, Piedad, Llanos, Manuel… had already gone back. And they won’t be the last either; many others already have their departure dates set.
Most of the Erasmus students in Dresden are working on their final engineering thesis projects, which usually take between 6 and 8 months to complete, so they’re now finishing and going back to Spain to defend them. They’re leaving those of us who are still taking courses alone and orphaned.
Erasmus life without those who’ve left is much tougher and duller. They were our support when it came to dealing with the Germans, solving problems, or organizing parties. And since we’ve grown together throughout the year in this “hostile” country, their absence is felt even more. We’ll miss them. And so, as a tribute to the fallen of the Erasmus grant, here’s this video. We won’t forget you.
